INDUSTRIAL VIBRATORS: WHAT ARE THEY & WHAT ARE THEY USED FOR

Industrial surface vibrator motors from Italian manufacturer OMB-BONDI make processes faster, more efficient and more effective.

When it comes to power transmission, OMB surface vibrators are reliable, holding a dominant position in a number of countries.

In this article we will see:

  • What are industrial vibrators?
  • What are the main types?
  • In which industries are they used?

Let's see everything in detail!

What are the industrial vibrators?

The operation of surface vibrators is very simple. Essentially, they convert electrical energy or pressure through their counterweights into kinetic energy and depending on their size they can create vibration expressed in the corresponding kilograms.

In simpler terms, industrial vibrators are motors that have counterweights on the ends that are adjusted to vibrate the surface they are bolted to.

Further down the article we will see in more detail where they are used, but generally, we find them in silos, in the process of filling bags of bulk material, in the transport of material on a belt, in material sorting devices, in cement trucks, etc.

They are placed to the outside of the structure and usually in the base to help the material flow.

what are the basic typeS of industrial vibrators?

There are two basic types of industrial vibrators, electric and pneumatic.

Electric vibrators are more common and start at very small sizes, for example for 20 kgs of vibration, which are usually single-phase. The rest are three-phase or low voltage.

Three-phase electric vibrators are divided into 3 categories depending on the revolutions and the material we want to vibrate. Fine-grained materials require high revolutions, so we choose 3000 rpm (revolutions per minute). For materials of medium size and weight we choose 1500 rpm and for materials with a greater volume and weight we choose 1000 rpm.

Pneumatic vibrators on the other hand are more compact and require an air supply to vibrate the material. They are very efficient and reach up to 160kg at 8 bar. Their great advantage is the very low weight they have and the small surface they need for their installation.

In applications located in explosion-proof areas, OMB offers certified ATEX vibrators that meet all the necessary specifications to ensure their safe operation.

Finally, in mobile applications, for example in salt dump trucks or applications where the mains power supply is not available and the vibrator is powered by a battery, the 12 and 24 Volt DC vibrators are the solution.

industrial vibrators: where are they used?

The industrial surface vibrators are used in various applications of various industries such as agriculture, construction, food production, product storage, etc.

Industrial Vibrators are often placed in applications where there are powdery materials e.g. sand, cocoa, etc., in order to minimize the time of transferring the material to the mixing container. We usually find them in silos as they do not allow the material to clog up and stop production.

Additionally, in food and beverage production, vibration is used to settle materials evenly and remove any entrapped air. This is particularly important for chocolate production and also for dairy industries.

In the transport of bulk materials with dump trucks their use is quite important as the force of the vibrator moves the material more efficiently in a short period of time.

Finally, in several agricultural applications, vibrators are used to separate the product by size, for example in the olive sorting by size or the transfer of products to a counter for their quality control.
